Amex outsources to Trammell Crow Savills in Europe

Trammell Crow Company has extended its partnership with American Express to cover Europe, the Middle East and Africa through Trammell Crow Savills, the outsourcing joint venture formed last May (see News story) With opportunities in Asia-Pacific under review, the company believes this could become the first truly global real estate outsourcing partnership.

This deal will be the first fruit of the plan, announced in June last year (see News story), to expand into the European outsourcing market. TCS believes that Europe is the next choice for many US-based multi-nationals, used to working across large geographical areas and national borders and the UK is a natural choice from which to roll out operations across Europe. The company says that most business and functions are increasingly now being managed across these markets by multinationals for reason of control, efficiency and economy, and facilities management is set to follow this model.

Trammell Crow Company signed a real estate outsourcing agreement with American Expresss last August, covering operations in the United States, Canada, and Latin America.

Under the agreement, Trammell Crow Corporate Services provides facilities management, project management, transaction management, and other related services across the 1.3m sq m (14.4 m sq ft) of space owned or occupied by American Express. Around 500 Amex staff are being transferred to Trammell Crow Company in the first year of the agreement.

Trammell Crow Savills has not yet released details of the EMEA deal but it is believed it covers broadly the same range of service as the arrangement for the Americas.
