Carillion joint venture wins contract extension worth £6m pa

Carillion Services and Bateman Healthcare have been awarded a two year extension to the original six year FM contract with the Southern Derbyshire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. The non-clinical services contract is valued at an annual £6m.

John Evison, Carillion’s general manager of the facilities contract, said the performance improvement and innovation had always been as important as financial considerations and that the partners have supported many groundbreaking developments.

Carillion says it has improved the integration of management, catering and portering and made the management of estates and car parking more efficient as well as the overall training.

Continued improvements planned by the joint venture include a further boost to training, restaurant refurbishment, CCTV security improvements, new methods of waste and energy management and improved management systems for residential accommodation.

“Clearly, in extending the contract, we are confident that all round improvements will continue. This type of partnership between hospital trusts and the private sector points the way to further developments in healthcare services nationwide,” added Evison.
