GlaxoSmithKline, the company created by the recent merger
of Glaxo Wellcome and SmithKline Beecham, has contracted BSC Consulting
to deliver a series of risk workshops to the project team responsible
for business critical IT facilities in the companys new global headquarters
in Brentford.

The scope of BSCs analysis includes the design, future
operational and capacity requirements, maintenance and security issues.
The aim is to identify risks within the current design and ensure that
it meets the future needs of the company.
The workshops are proving an innovative approach to project management,
says BSC, creating a forum for the project team (construction managers
Mace; building services engineers WSP and commissioning managers CML)
to consider the wider implications of the initial design against the realities
of a changing construction programme.
BSC is applying its dependency risk models to map on-site project activities
involving critical systems such as IT power and cooling, and to identify
working practices that may increase risks.
The risk model provides a visual demonstration of the dependencies
in the infrastructure systems and is a useful tool in tracking the management
or elimination of risk.
