The Business Services Association (BSA) welcomes the launch
of the new Learning and Skills Council (LSC), stating that it is a potential
catalyst for the development of higher quality and more relevant
skills training.
The BSA has devoted itself to the promotion of lifelong learning within
the workforce, in order to maintain the quality of service to which
its customers are entitled. The BSAs member companies, employing
more than 500,000 people directly or indirectly, provide training schemes
for their employees, and seek to encourage staff to develop their skills
and potential to the maximum.
We welcome the establishment of the LSC, says BSA Director-General
Norman Rose. Businesses are suffering from skills shortages and
are keen to take an active part in addressing the problem, and what
employers really need is a co-ordinated structure that is responsive
to the skills needs of business and can deliver practical and relevant
training.
