Millennium
work means mega money
Staff working over the millennium could be in for one-off bonuses of up
to £500, according to research carried out by pay analysts Income Data
Services.
Employers
who will be operating their businesses over the millennium period are
preparing to pay the extra cash to encourage staff to turn up for work.
Some staff
are being offered additional perks, such as free flights, theatre tickets
or capital bonds as an incentive. Among those to receive bonuses are staff
employed by computer companies, media firms and water companies.
Operators
of London's 23,000 black taxis, represented by the Licensed Taxi Drivers
Association, recently set out their proposal to charge a £25 premium for
each fare carried on New Year's Eve.
Whether this
will be sanctioned by the Government remains to be seen.
