Global online careers network, Monster.com, has opened a new 2,300 sq
m (24,000 sq ft) European Sales Centre in Glasgow. The business-to-business,
multi-lingual call centres idiom: work hard, relax hard
is reflected in the design of the office, which is aimed to encourage
good staff relations and productivity.
Karen Skewies, vice president of European sales at Monster.com said that
having started the companys operation within the corridors of a
crowded building in Glasgow, it is happy to announce the expansion and
rapid transition to the modernistic new Centre in the city, mirroring
a successful and fast-track dot com evolution.
A
fun environment has been created with neck masseurs being
called in once every two months, office managers officially designated
as Managers of Fun, a recreational area taking up one third
of each of the centres two floors called the Monster Den which has
satellite TV facilities, table football, free cans of soft drinks and
ad lib coffee for the staff, and egg-shaped Monster meeting pods for briefings,
complete with automatic lighting that is activated once the pods are entered.
Monster.com plans to expand its operation from 50 to over 180 people with
inbound and outbound teams dealing with calls from customers in the eight
European countries where Monster has established local language websites:
France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Germany, Spain, Italy and the
UK. The outbound team will work to encourage over 40,000 businesses and
agencies throughout Europe to place vacancies and search the CV databases
on Monsters European web sites.
Scottish Deputy Minister for Enterprise and Lifelong Learning, Alasdair
Morrison, who opened the Centre, said: "The establishment of this
European Sales Centre, creating 183 skilled jobs, will enhance Scotlands
growing international reputation for knowledge based jobs. The fact that
the centre will co-ordinate the operations for Monster.com in Europe adds
further value to Glasgows growing international reputation as an
ideal location for high-tech e-service projects of this kind."
