Two French companies, Alstom and Thomson-CSF, are to merge the facility
management activities of subsidiaries, creating a new company with annual
sales of over EUR150m (£91.8m) and managing more than 2m sq m of
space in the services and industrial sectors.
Alstom is a specialist in energy and transport infrastructure, with annual
sales in excess of EUR20 billion and employing more than 140,000 people
in over 70 countries. Thomson-CSF is a European leader and global player
in professional electronics in three main business areas: Defence, Aerospace
and Information Technology & Services. Following its acquisition earlier
this year of the British company Racal Electronics, the Group employs
65,000 people worldwide of whom 50% are based outside of France. The company
generated revenues of EUR8.2 billion last
year, 70% of which came from international sales.
The two companies said that bringing together the FM activities of Alstom
Contracting and Thomson Gestion Immobiliere will enable them to meet the
growing needs of their European customers and the strategic challenges
of services outsourcing. The alliance will have a strong value-added offer
in services and technologies capable of being delivered through an existing
local network in France and other European markets.
