Johnson Controls has been awarded a seven-year contract
with Novartis valued at £78m per year (CHF 200m). The company will
deliver integrated facilities management and infrastructure services at
four Novartis sites at the Basel, Switzerland, headquarters.
Facilities management service delivery will be standardised across 930,000
sq m (10m sq ft) including manufacturing, research and development, and
administrative operations in support of Novartis healthcare business.
Technical maintenance services and maintenance process automation will
be carried out on manufacturing equipment and scientific testing equipment.
Infrastructure support services covering facilities management from mailroom
and reprographics to security, fire services and emergency service management
will also be provided.
Hans Kindler, member of the Novartis executive committee, believes Johnson
Controls possesses the necessary competencies and corporate culture that
matches Novartis ideas about performance and personal policies.
Robert Netolicka, president of Johnston Controls Integrated Facility Management,
said: "We are looking forward to delivering the knowledge and best
practice weve gained through our work within the pharmaceutical
industry."
As a result of the agreement, 1,000 Basel-based Novartis staff will be
transferred to employment with Johnson Controls. The contract is expected
to be signed by the end of November this year, subject to due diligence.
