Middlesbrough Council has selected Amey and Hyder
Business Services as short-listed partners to provide services such
as facilities management, IT and customer services.
Proposals from Capita Business Services and PricewaterhouseCoopers were
also assessed before a decision to shortlist two was made. The evaluation
process included an examination of services the organisations could provide,
their experience of delivering services, performance, and financial standing
and staffing profile. An understanding of the councils far-reaching
modernising agenda, the governments Best Value initiative and partnership
working were also expected to be shown.
Deputy leader Sylvia Connolly said: "The Council was in an enviable
position of being able to choose between two proposals, both of which
offer an opportunity to provide better services, protect existing jobs,
create new employment opportunities and generate significant savings."
Brian
Staples, Ameys chief executive expressed satisfaction at the news,
saying it reflects well on Ameys ability to be able to offer high
quality services and reaffirms its strong public sector position.
The final decision on which company will partner with Middlesbrough Council
is thought to be due in mid-November.
