Mowlem plans to enter the utilities market with the launch
of Mowlem Energy, to specialise in the provision of multi-utility solutions
and services across the UK.
The new business will work in conjunction with Mowlem Energy Development
and Mowlem Utilities Services to design, install and maintain utility
networks for house builders and commercial industrial developers. Mowlem
Energy will retain ownership of networks and will also distribute gas
and electricity.
Mowlem Energy says that by offering customers all four utilities in a
single, stepped trench and through one point of contact, it will provide
an efficient, well-managed service with lower installation and running
costs and less disruption.
The move into the utilities market is one of the initiatives which has
been driven by Mowlem's "Stepping up a Gear" programme, which
aims to transform the company into a leading provider of solutions to
owners, developers and users of premises, facilities and infrastructure,
through developing synergies and widening its portfolio. Mowlem Energy
will work closely with Mowlem's building, infrastructure and facilities
management (ie Aqumen) divisions to provide integrated solutions to customers.
