It's Architecture Week
Some might say it is typical of architects to create a week that is
ten days long. But, on the other hand, building in two weekends does increase
the opportunities to take advantage of what's on offer.
Architecture Week is a joint Arts Council and RIBA initiative aimed
at promoting the cause of good design - past, present and future.
All kinds of events - exhibits, tours, presentations and debates - are
scheduled for numerous locations around the country. Various 'starchitects',
the profession's leading lights, are speaking on a range of current issues;
and a long list of practices will be opening their doors to visitors.
Up-to-date information is available at www.archweek.co.uk - a site that
is a bit basic but highly functional - and much easier to cope with than
the rather perverse green, red and mauve guide book.
