FM services provider Johnson Controls has shortlisted four students for
its newly launched annual award scheme with University College London.
The award for "the dissertation that makes the most significant contribution
towards a better understanding of the potential future direction of the
FM industry", is open to students studying for an MSc in facility
and environment management at University College London.
The award ceremony will take place in London on the 30th of November when
BIFM chairman Ian Fielder will present the award to one of four finalists:
John Amos, Paul Hanrahan, Tanvi Karia and Johnny Yip. The winner can choose
between a cash prize and an all expenses paid trip to the National Summit
on Building Performance in Washington DC next March with the opportunity
to meet the worlds leading FM experts.
Fielder said: "Good ideas and innovative thinking are key to the
future of the FM industry. We welcome this award as an opportunity to
highlight the work done at UCL and to see how this can be applied to the
industry at large."
Senior manager at Johnson Controls and award organiser Anne Lennox-Martin
is herself a graduate of the UCL course: "It is very exciting to
see the work of the university coming closer to the practitioners of FM",
she said, "from my personal experience, the course has added greatly
to my performance as an FM manager. It was a tremendous career move to
have this qualification."
