Building & Propertys three year FM contract with Railtrack
has been extended a further two years. The company expects to turn over
an additional £10m in the next two years.
Commenting on the contract, Railtracks group facilities manager
Colin Newton said: "Over the past three years, we have developed
an excellent working relationship with Building & Property which has
enabled us to consolidate over 150 existing separate service contracts.
"By centralising the provision of property, maintenance and support
services, we have seen an overall improvement in quality and have been
able to meet a set of agreed key performance indicators. Moreover, a recent
benchmarking exercise undertaken to evaluate the cost effectiveness of
outsourcing our FM requirements has revealed that it has delivered substantial
economies of scale."
During the past three years, Building & Property has introduced a
number of new systems and procedures at Railtracks buildings across
the UK. When the contract commenced in 1998, it covered 65,000 sq m in
22 buildings. This has been extended to 1.1m sq m in 44 buildings.
Phil Clark, project manager at Building & Property said: "As
a market leader in the facilities management industry, working across
a broad range of market sectors, Building & Property has an in-depth
understanding of the challenges facing organisations such as Railtrack.
By outsourcing its facilities management, Railtrack has been able to focus
on its core business while leaving its facilities management requirements
in the hands of experts. We are delighted to have this opportunity to
continue working with Railtrack."
