BIFM seeks input to Special Interest Group

The BIFM’s recently launched Building Services Special Interest Group is seeking help and ideas. The Group’s Chairman, Mick Dalton of Ernst and Young, said: "Environmental questions, maintenance problems, alarm and electrical systems are all issues which land on the desks of FMs every day. Problems may arise because FMs are not involved or consulted at the design stage or may not have sufficient knowledge to provide the right solution."

As part of BIFM Chairman Ian Fielder's vision of the future - raising the profile of the FM in the workplace - a number of Special Interest Groups have been convened. Each Special Interest Group will write papers over the next two years which will offer practical assistance to FMs.

Working alongside Mick Dalton on The Building Services Steering Group are Kevin Barrett of the BBC; Martin Jolly of Dalkia; and Ray Chiverton of Delta Business Consulting. "To start the ball rolling, the Steering Group wants you to tell us which problems/issues in building services cause you the greatest concern," says Dalton, "The Group will address the issue that you tell us is the highest priority for you as an FM. Please take five minutes to support this initiative."
