As reported on i-FM last week, after many years based at the University
of Strathclyde in Glasgow, the internationally recognised Centre for Facilities
Management is to relocate to a new home at the University of Salford in
Manchester from this August.
The Centre says the move is part plans for the expansion and development
of its activities. CFM intends to grow the membership of its flagship
Associate Company Scheme and create many new activities to more closely
reflect the needs of its clients.
CFM will be positioned in the Faculty of Business and Informatics at the
University of Salford, thereby retaining the Centre's close affiliation
with the business and managerial aspects of FM. The CFM's Director, Mr
Keith Alexander will take the position of Chair in Facilities Management
at the University's School of Construction and Property.
The Centre will transfer formally on the 1st August 2000, in the meantime
the Glasgow-based office will continue as normal. The Centre said that
the World Workplace Europe conference on the 11-14 June 2000 remains a
major commitment for the CFM and the move will not affect this or other
CFM commitments in any way.
