Facilities management company LCC Support Services has
set up a security squad to screen personnel due to the increasing number
of bank, building society and other security conscious clients.
The company said it created the concept following LCCs
growth in the financial services sector. Managing director Bob Vincent
said: In a years time the market will be demanding highly
screened staff for a whole range of cleaning and premises management
functions.
LCC teams are divided into two areas: one for dealing
with extreme security jobs where a ten year employment history is needed
and another for low risk jobs requiring five years. Both full and part-time
staff are screened.
Traditionally the need for contractors to screen
staff for suitability and honesty was restricted to cash oriented customers,
but with computers running business today, it is essential that the
people cleaning these areas are vetted. Personnel including couriers,
archival storage and waste disposal staff are also expected to be of
highest integrity and are screened too.
The security squad is trained in security and safety matters and already
operates at more than 15 sites in and around London.
