Amey has appointed Dr John Whiteman as group director
of business development. An economist, John was previously with international
management consultants Bain & Company, where he was principal of
the firms capital management practice in Australia.
Brian Staples, chief executive of Amey, said: We are delighted
that John Whiteman has agreed to join Ameys Board. Johns
acknowledged expertise in the field of capital management and the wealth
of international experience that he brings with him will prove invaluable
in Ameys development of new business opportunities which represents
an integral aspect of the companys ongoing growth targets.
Before joining Bain & Company in 1999, John was managing director
of Value Management Limited, a subsidiary of EC Harris. From 1990 to
1993, he was managing director of Saudi Arabias National Centre
for project development where he advised on public capital investment.
Major programmes included Saudi Arabias health system, national
freight rail operations and urban development. Between 1984 and 1989,
he was Harvard Universitys Professor of Economic Planning and
Urban Design at the Graduate School of Design.
