BAE Systems to create internet based HR company

The outsourcing of business support services continues, with the additional impetus of e-commerce. BAE Systems, the global systems, defence and aerospace company, is to partner with B2B solutions provider Xchanging in a new human resources management venture.

The new, jointly owned, company will provide a full range of HR services to both BAE Systems and other companies with "complex global HR requirements."

Terry Morgan, BAE Systems’ Group Director of Human Resources said: "After a comprehensive study on transforming the way we deliver HR service to our employees and to the company, we decided that Xchanging has the most compelling vision and deep understanding of how this service can be improved using current and future technology. This new enterprise provides a real opportunity to give clear HR support to the key business drivers while also creating exciting career opportunities for our HR professionals.

"Initially the new company will give BAE Systems’ wholly owned businesses in the UK, North America and Australia a HR function, providing an improved service aligned with business strategy and value added services. Line managers will have access to the best HR skills, together with common and consistent processes using the latest technology."

Xchanging specialises in providing e-enabled back office administration, in accounting, supply chain and logistics, human resources, and customer administration to the world’s largest companies. The company was founded in February last year by David Andrews, previously Managing Partner West Europe and Board Member of Andersen Consulting. He is a pioneer of the BP accounting and London Stock Exchange partnership arrangements.
