BRE publishes construction research data on the net

BRE has published the results of its research into sustainable construction issues. The data will only be available on the internet, making it the first BRE report to be published exclusively in electronic format.

The research was funded by the DETR and forms one element of a study entitled 'Sustainable Construction - Developing an Industry Agenda'. BRE says the objective of this research was to gather key available data on the social, economic, environmental and resource implications of construction.

The work, based largely on the views of independent experts, identifies the characteristics of the construction industry in terms of the economy, society, construction activity, materials, building operation and transport and waste implications. The combined performance of these issues represents the sustainability of construction and the built environment.

The research provides a source of background information from which many groups can draw in devising strategies and action plans for improving sustainability of construction and for responding to Government policy.
