The next phase of the UK's first national on-line student
accommodation allocation and booking service has been launched by UNITE,
the specialist provider of student and NHS key worker accommodation services.
A new comprehensive website contains detailed information on over 340,000
rooms available across all 170 publicly funded higher education institutions
and some private HE institutions.
Commenting on the initiative, UNITE's Chief Executive, Nicholas Porter,
said: "Many people first leave home when they go to university and
often have to source accommodation in unfamiliar towns and cities. Naturally
many turn to their chosen university to provide this information. However,
as 97% of students have access to the Internet and 60% own their own computer,
UNITE's online Accommodation Service is a cost and time efficient way
of finding accommodation to meet their specific needs."
The service goes live in March 2001 at www.bunk.com
Last year Jarviss University Partnership Programme launched two
new student accommodation initiatives - London Student Homes and The Summer
Village (see News story)
