Capital project and facilities consultancy EC Harris is to advise Larnaca and Paphos airports in Cyprus on airport operational issues, traffic forecasts, functional needs, construction requirements and costs.
The company, together with legal advisers Masons, will be part of a team led by PricewaterhouseCoopers which is to advise the Cyprus Government on an approach based on a Build Operate Transfer scheme.
Tender invitations are currently being prepared for the three year construction phase and operation of the new terminals together with associated facilities.
EC Harris project leader Tim Ellis said: Growing demand for air travel is driving a world-wide need for massive investment in airport infrastructure. The privatisation route allows governments to finance these investments and improve operational efficiency and revenue income.
Air travellers are demanding more and better facilities and by bringing together our PFI experience from the UK, aviation sector knowledge and commercial experience we can help the Cyprus Government achieve the optimum solution in terms of performance and value for money, he continued.
