Amey intends to re-structure the company in the spring to
prepare for growth and development. Since 1998, the group has operated
in a divisional structure and the company says that while this has been
highly beneficial, the transition is now complete. The board believes
Ameys current and future opportunities will be better served with
a change in structure.
The re-structure, to begin in April this year, is to focus
more closely on the market segments in which it operates and is designed
to reduce operating costs over time. The business process outsourcing
and infrastructure management and maintenance activities is also to be
re-focused into market-facing segments covering defence, local authorities,
education, health, utilities and media. Asset, fleet and technology services
however are to remain as separate business centres.
The board also announced that Mike Pilbeam, managing director
of the business process outsourcing division, is to resign and take up
a role with another company.
Brian Staples, chief executive of Amey, said: "We have
enjoyed a period of strong growth under the existing structure which has
seen the group firmly established as a leading support service provider.
The scale of opportunities in front of us clearly indicates that the time
is now right for the group to adopt a structure which will enable it to
continue, and indeed accelerate, its development in the future."
