At the CeBIT 2000 communications trade show which opens
today in Hannover, Lucent Technologies will be showcasing next generation
networking solutions, announcing solutions for optical networking, communications
software and high-speed access.
"Next-generation networks are what is driving the new economy,"
said Ben Verwaayen, Lucent's vice chairman. "It's not only about the Internet,
it's much more than that. It's optical and wireless networks; open, programmable
networks that pave the way for new innovative applications; it's high-speed
broadband access and the services and support that ensure quality and
reliability. That's what Lucent is about."
To address the high-growth optical networking market, Lucent
today announces the industry's first high-speed optical networking system
capable of bringing 10-gigabit (OC-192/STM-64) networking capacity directly
to ISPs and business customers. Lucent also unveiled seven other 10-gigabit
networking products today as it rounds out the industry's most comprehensive
10G portfolio.
The company is also demonstrating seamless connectivity
from the core network to the desktop with Lucent Collaborative Video technology.
