A millennium lighting conference is being organised by The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers and the Institution of Lighting Engineers. This major conference, to be held in York from 9th to 11th July, aims to provide a forum for the whole profession and will include sessions and case studies appealing to all lighting professionals.

Subjects confirmed so far include remote source lighting, quality in lighting and light pollution as well as addressing educational and professional issues. Nigel Parry, ILE Promotions Committee Chairman said, "In this millennium year we felt it important to bring together lighting professionals who currently have homes in different professional bodies. In planning this conference we have identified common themes which we believe will appeal to all lighting professionals."
