The UK firm Psion and mobile phone giant Motorola are to join forces
to develop a range of mobile internet access devices. This is yet another
step towards the wireless world.
Motorola and Psion are jointly designing the handheld devices to work
with cellular networks in Europe, North America and Asia. The products
will have integrated voice and data capability and are "designed to put
the internet in the user's pocket." Psion hopes to have the first products
ready for the first half of next year.
The race to develop mobile phones and other wireless devices that use
the internet has heated up. All the UK mobile phone companies plan to
roll out services which deliver some internet content by the end of the
year. The next generation of mobile phone licenses, currently being auctioned
by the UK Government, will allow full internet data and video capability.
So, are you ready for the i-FM headlines on your mobile phone?
