Another huge outsourcing contract for BP AMOCO
BP Amoco has awarded MCI WorldCom a five-year $650M contract for global
telecommunications services. This follows on the ten-year $1bn contract
recently announced for the outsourcing of back office business processes
to PricewaterhouseCooper.
The MCI WorldCom deal, says BP Amoco's John Leggate, "is a crucial step
to ensuring that we establish a leadership position in e-business."
"Technology is changing the link between our company and the consumer.
It's giving us the opportunity to improve capital efficiency and creating
whole new business opportunities," he added.
The move will allow BP Amoco to migrate its current regional telecommunications
infrastructures to a single global platform. MCI WorldCom will design,
implement and manage a new platform providing BP Amoco with flexibility
and rapid scalability across six continents and 85 countries.
