BSRIA study to focus on FM feedback
The first steering group meeting of a new BSRIA research project is
set for next week.
The objective of this project is to investigate the information essential
to effective building design and construction, and specifically, to develop
a mechanism for collecting that information from facilities managers.
Feedback from building operation is an acknowledged aid to better building
design but, notes BSRIA, there is no established mechanism for achieving
it.
The data for this work will be collected from real building projects.
Though details will be treated as confidential, the data format developed
will be publicised. This is intended to help:
- designers to choose the best design options for plant systems and
sizing, based on actual measured running costs, effectiveness, maintainability
and lifetime of the plant
- building services professionals to construct better buildings and
match the design to the client's needs
- clients to have buildings that are designed and constructed for maximum
comfort and efficiency.
Additional research sponsors are invited to join in. More details are
available from Aleksandra Bury on 01344-426511.
