The British Institute of Facilities Management has strengthened
its relationship with exhibition organisers United Business Media International
in a bid to revitalise the FM Expo event.
As part of the deal, the BIFM's annual conference, previously held separately,
will run alongside FM Expo 2001, which moves to the new ExCel venue in
London's Docklands (16 18 October). The exhibition and conference,
together with other soon-to-be-announced events, will create a week of
concentrated, high profile activity for the profession and industry.
Ian Fielder, the BIFM's Chairman, commented: "Having been closely
involved with FM Expo since its inception, we are delighted to be able
to help develop it into a major event in the FM calendar. We see FM Expo
as both providing an important source of information for the industry,
as well as raising the profile of FM as a progressive and rapidly developing
profession."
The agreement is the first of a number of initiatives to be announced
by the new regime at the BIFM which has worked hard to put the Institute
on a sound financial footing and set its strategic direction. More announcements
will follow in the New Year.
