A new research grouping, 'Occupier.org', has been set up to address the
holy grail of FM - how does the design and management of buildings influence
business productivity?
Occupier.org, which will be launched as a web based research project
later this year, aims to put knowledge on building productivity into the
public domain. The founding members are English Partnerships; National
Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives; RICS Research Foundation
and the Society of Property Researchers.
The first research project let by occupier.org is an audit and evaluation
of corporate real estate literature to be carried out by the Facilities
Management Graduate Centre at Sheffield Hallam University. The research
team will be led by Professor If Price.
The literature review will draw up a base-line set of information and
data for the decision making process. The project intends to deliver the
results in a searchable online database by early October. Occupier.org
will then design a structured research programme to address gaps in the
knowledge base.
