Jarvis expects to meets its financial targets for the current
year to March 2001, said outgoing Chairman Roger Payton at the company's
Annual General Meeting last week. His confidence was based on a strong
order book and the focus of the recent Government spending renew on investment
in education and transport.
Payton said that Jarvis would soon announce the first whole estate transfer
under its University Partnership Programme. Jarvis is a leader in the
provision of student accommodation and operates a web site (www.thestudentvillage.com)
through which students can book rooms.
Jarvis has expanded this business through a second web site which is developing
the market for letting student accommodation out of term. The company
now has the ability to let over 20,000 rooms on three continents during
university vacations.
Jarvis has also diversified in the student market by taking a 30% shareholding
in Gradunet, an internet based graduate recruitment business, and expects
to make further announcements about this rapidly developing side of its
operations.
The company has recently reorganised its business under three main operating
divisions: Accommodation Services, Systems and Technology and Infrastructure
Services. Colin Skellett takes over as Chairman.
