Horticultural company Throwers has won a £190,000 per year grounds
maintenance contract with the Ministry of Defence in Bristol for seven
years.
Throwers has six staff on site, where they maintain 5,000 trees and
28,000 shrubs. There are also 650 internal plants and an atrium with
32 trees.
Sales executive for Throwers, Melanie Jenkin, commented: It is
a very challenging contract. The MoD is particularly concerned about
the environment and we have to be very careful about what chemicals
we use on the plants to make sure that these will not be harmful to
wildlife.
Throwers already maintains two other MoD sites.
