Benchmarking find its place in health & safety
New benchmarking guidance from the Health and Safety Executive promises
to deliver a series of benefits. A planned process of learning from the
experiences of others, says the HSE, can help to reduce accidents and
ill heath, improve compliance with the law and cut costs - including the
cost of insurance.
'Health and safety benchmarking: improving together' outlines the process
and makes suggestions for effective implementation.
Single copies are available free from HSE Books on 01787-881165.
The HSE has also announced that a new version of the 'health and safety
law' poster is available. All employers have a legal obligation to display
this poster in the workplace, or provide a copy of the accompanying leaflet
to each employee. The revised version must be in use from July 2000. This
can also be obtained from HSE Books.
