If it's not stress, it may be the food
Nutrition expert Penny Hunking today warns that people's health is 'shamefully
overlooked' by many employers.
More time is being taken off as a direct result of poor eating habits
during the work day, she claims. "Most workers are making bad food choices
because they are under pressure and time is at a premium," says Hunking.
"Quick and ill-chosen lunches make it difficult for employees to eat properly."
Hunking urges employers to promote healthy food choices, promising a
boost in productivity and a reduction in sickness in return.
She also criticised staff restaurants for not offering enough healthy,
low-fat food. Fresh fruit, nutritious snacks and water should all be readily
available, she said.
