Industry round-up: results and opportunities
Multi-disciplinary property group Chesterton has turned itself around,
converting a £1.5M loss for last year into £4M of pre-tax profit this
year. One important contributor is the FM division Workplace Management,
responsible for about £100M of services for British Gas, BA, Cable & Wireless
and others.
Chesterton has also launched two new divisions, one focusing on structured
finance and the other participating in (and taking an equity stake in,
where appropriate) consortia bidding for facilities and property partnering
contracts.
Johnson Controls will share the speakers' platform with PricewaterhouseCoopers,
Ernst & Young and BT at a CBI-sponsored conference on the workplace.
'Improving business productivity through best practice workplace management'
is scheduled for 29 November. The half-day event is designed to show senior
executives how to improve company performance by turning the workplace
into an asset, rather than treating it as an overhead.
